Action Items:

Campaign to Save Shin Sook Ja and her daughters: Dr. In Y. Park of No Gulags in North Korea has kicked of an on line campaign to save this South Korean family currently imprisoned in North Korea.  It only takes a few minutes and a few clicks to join this effort.  Please feel free to forward the information below from Dr. Park to others who may be interested:

Please Help Us Save Shin Sook Ja and Her Daughters Imprisoned in North Korea: Just this September, Oh Kil-Nam learned that his wife and two daughters, all South Korean citizens, may still be alive after having been imprisoned in North Korea’s infamous Yodok political prison camp for 25 years.  This family is a symbol of the innumerable tragedies that Koreans have suffered for more than half a century, and they are the human faces to the 150,000 to 200,000 prisoners held in North Korea’s 21st century gulag.

Please sign the petition to Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, calling on him to work for the release of this mother and two daughters so that they can return to their husband and father in South Korea. We want to show full support from people all over the world who believe in freedom and human dignity, and we desperately need your help.

To sign the petition, please follow these simple steps:
Go to the website, www.change.org. In the search bar, type “shin sook ja” and click on the search button. On the next page click on the headline “Secretary General of the United Nations: Repatriate Mrs. Shin Soon Ja and her two daughters to South Korea.” Then you can sign the petition on the next page.

Thank you very much for your support.
In Y. Park M.D. NGNK ( No Gulags in North Korea )

Looking for Musicians and Crew to Tour the US & Europe for North Korea Human Rights: David K. O’Hannah, a musician dedicated to the North Korea human rights cause, is planning to tour the US and Europe with his music to raise awareness and funds for the human rights of the North Korean people, and he’s trying to get in touch with musicians (including sound-engineers) + crew that would be glad to do the work with him. (Note: There’s work in other areas as well.)  More info on his website, here:

NGOs Worldwide Needed to Join Letter Urging South Korean Lawmakers to Pass the North Korea Human Rights Act: While legislation addressing human rights in North Korea has passed with bipartisan consensus in the United States and Japan and the United Nations, the European Union and other international entities have taken action, the legislature in South Korea has failed repeatedly to pass their version of the North Korea Human Rights Act.  The North Korea Freedom Coalition is calling for NGOs worldwide to join a letter that will be sent to the leaders of the major parties in South Korea urging the passage of this Act.   If you are interested in reviewing this letter for possible inclusion, please email me at skswm@aol.com

US Citizens: Please Contact Your Lawmaker in support of POW, MIAs, & South Korea Abductees:  Congressman Charles Rangel, a veteran himself of the Korean War, introduced H.Res. 376 this summer calling for the repatriation of POW/MIAs and abductees from the Korean War still being held in North Korea.  Please help Congressman Rangel get action on this resolution by contacting YOUR own representative and asking them to support H.R. 376.

You can find your Representative by going to http://www.house.gov/

And to see if your Representative has joined in support you can click here:
