Event Summary

The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies, and the Peterson Institute for International Economics held an online event to launch the 23rd Geneva Report on the World Economy on January 26, 2021. The report stresses that central banks and treasuries can only coordinate effectively if the credibility of their commitment to desirable long-term goals—healthy growth under price stability and public debt sustainability—is preserved and backed by a resilient institutional framework. The authors urge policymakers to develop a strategy to regain policy space on both fiscal and monetary issues.
